TIP 5: Mix it up!

exercise doesn't have to be work

if you hate the idea of lifting weights, or walking on a treadmill for an hour, listen up!

exercise comes in all shapes and kinds, and you can find it anywhere!

TIP 5: when it comes to exercise, mix it up!

this week is going to be super-busy for me, but in a good way! my family and I are going on day trips! snowboarding, skiing, cross-country skiing, and even dogsledding are in the plans for this week!

all of the above mentioned activities burn calories, while youre having a ton of fun!

other fun activities that burn calories are:
-snowshoeing
-snowtubing
- biking
- kayaking
- canoeing
- whitewater rafting
- horseback riding
- anything where you move!

and while you're having a wonderfully "active" vacation day, or doing an active leisure activity, not only are you burning calories, but the time spent having fun means your busy, and not sitting on the couch and munching on those potato chips, ya couch potato! haha

but if you can't afford the activities above, or simply don't have time to take a day off, you can get active at home!

other tips for at-home active leisure include:
- "active" video games, with the Wii or Xbox Kinect that make you move in order to play (they also have work-out games if you want to be more serious and focused, and from personal experience, theyre all fun!)
- go for a walk, during lunch break, in the morning, on the evening. walking with a sweetheart, or walking while your kids bike ahead of you, are all good idea to keep those in your life active too. (my mom walks during her lunch break at work)
- if you live next to a store (i live near a pharmacy) walk there if you need anything! unfortunately the modern town design doesn't allow us to walk to the grocery store, but if you do live near a little corner market or something, walking there to pick up a few small things is a great idea, AND your save gas!
- buy and wear a pedometer, and make a goal for yourself! (if you walk alongside a road, you can also measure with your car to see how far a certain path is)

as long as you try to get moving everyday, every step counts!

have fun :)

Just another whale,
MyzzLyzz
