Tip 19: take the stairs!

When you're trying to lose weight, every step counts. You can burn extra calories every day without ever hitting the gym. Of course, this has limits, but this approach is a great start for those new to physical activity, or those who lead an extremely busy lifestyle.

Tip 19: take the stairs!


Taking the stairs is a simple way to up your daily calorie output (calories you burn). Click "read more" for other everyday activities you can do to burn extra calories!



Other daily activities that burn extra calories:
- walk to a local store for small purchases
- walk with your loved one to a date at a local restaurant (a great way to get both of you moving, and spend some quality time together)
- walk the long way to your destination
- bike to your destination
- roller blade to your destination
- park at the furthest end of the parking lot so you will walk further to and from your car
- take a walk to grab lunch or coffee during your lunch break
- skip eating lunch during your lunch break and go for a walk instead (some jobs will let you eat during your working time, but if yours doesn't- eat a small meal and then walk [or vice versa depending on your preference] it will also be a great break from sitting on your chair!)
- play with your kids instead of watching (obviously this depends on your physical condition, but you can try trampolines, bike riding, swimming, etc.)
- wear a pedometer to challenge yourself (more on pedometers in a later post!)

Get moving, and you'll start to see a big difference in the way your pants fit! Not to mention, as with any physical activity, you'll see an increase in energy, and self confidence. :)
